Description

Intrinsically safe detectors are used in hazardous locations where explosive levels of gas or vapors are normally or potentially present. The SS-T-IS circuit power levels are limited to eliminate the potential to ignite an explosive atmosphere. Compatibility of intrinsically safe detectors with the system control panels for ground fault detection and proper use is required. Consult the appropriate listing agency for further information about the use of intrinsically safe products. An approved compatible barrier must also be used in all intrinsically safe applications and can be purchased separately.

The model SS-T-IS intrinsically safe rate-of-rise thermal detector with fixed temperature alarm set point of 57°C uses a state-of-the-art dual thermistor sensing circuit. These detectors are designed to provide open area protection and are to be used with compatible control panels only. Each detector is equipped with two LEDs that provide 360° visual indication of detector status. Remote LED annunciator capability is also included.

When the temperature at the detector exceeds 57°C, it latches in alarm and remains in this condition until it is reset by a momentary power interruption. The detector can be tested by activating an internal reed switch with a test magnet.
